Join the group!
We are actively recruiting new members at all levels! See details below, and reach out to Carl (cveller@uchicago.edu) if you have additional questions.
PhD students:
Most students interested in our group will likely apply to the Ecology & Evolution PhD program in the Biological Sciences Division.
Funding for students comes from a variety of sources, including internal funds, training grants, and fellowships (e.g., the NSF GRFP). PhD students are guaranteed funding for at least 5 years, regardless of the source. More information on PhD programs in the Biological Sciences Division at UChicago, including details on how to apply, can be found here.
Postdocs:
Potential postdocs are encouraged to reach out to Carl to discuss opportunities. If there are specific positions available, they will be posted here. Generally, postdocs will be working on independent projects within the broad outlines of the group's research interests.
Funding is available via fellowships (e.g., Chicago Fellows, NSF PRFB) or grants to the lab. If you’re interested in applying for a fellowship to do a postdoc in our group, get in touch with Carl to discuss co-writing a fellowship or a grant.
Undergraduate research:
Get in touch with Carl to discuss potential opportunities! The work in our lab is largely theoretical, so coursework in maths/stats/programming is a plus.
